GM 1- Chance vs Denny

Denny gets first 2 outs of game quick before Lee Thomas homers off him. An error by McAuliffe was followed by a Jose Cardenal single and a run scoring Paul Schaal double. 2-0.  Dean Chance looked unhittable allowing only 2 hits going into the 7th.  2 leadoff walks come back to bite Chance as Freehan singles one of them home. That would be it. Bob Lee save.  2-1 angels

GM 2- McBride vs Lolich

Felix Torres doubles home Jim Fregosi in 3rd as Cal takes another early lead.

Tigers finally get something going in 5th with 3 runs highlighted by a Dick McAuliffe  2 run homer.  Det adds 1 more in 9th for 4-1 win. Pat Dobson pitched brilliantly in early relief of a wild Lolich going 3.1 letting up only 1 hit. Fred Gladding save.   4-1 Det

GM 3-  Brunet vs Lary

A leadoff error on Jim Fregosi scored in 4th  when Cash doubled Kaline home. A Horton run scoring DP made it 2-0 Det. Cal got force out run in 6th and it stayed 2-1 till t8. Tigers manager Dan Holms strategy backfired when he int walked 2 batters to get to light hitting Bobby Knoop who promptly singled home 2 runs giving Angels the lead. Angels pitching gave it away in B8 with the wildness.   With top closer Bob Lee in, Northrup greeted him with a double. McAuliffe walked. Denny McLain came in as the PH and sac runners to 2nd and third- 1 out, Cash walked to load em. Colavito walked to tie game and Willie Horton hit a deep sac flie to give Tigers the lead 4-3. Gladding shut them down in the 9th . 4-3 Tigers

GM 4- FRED NEWMAN VS DAVE WICKERSHAM

Det starts the scoring in 3rd when Jim Fregosi makes another critical error as he throws wild to let Don Wertscore. In top of 5th score still 1-0 Wickersham walks leadoff hitter,  his 8th batter walked to this point.  He was yanked despite allowing no runs .....0 k's, 8 walks, 4 innings , 2 hits,  no runs make up a strange pitching line

Jose Cardenal tied it with solo shot that inning 1-1. Angels took lead in 6th when Colavito throws wild trying to get runner at 3rd letting runner score 2-1 Cal. Tigers tied it in 6th. Angels relievers got wild again as Jim McGlothlin opened the 6th walking Colavito, then beaning Freehan 1 batter later. Rocky scored on a 2 out Micky Stanley single. 2-2.

 Game goes to extras when in dets half of inning Rocky Colavito saves Al Kalines ass. McAuliffe lead off single. Al Kaline singles. Norm Cash up with Art Fowler on mound. Cash to this point has done nothing. He hits a scorching liner to second and Kaline is napping at first and gets picked. However with 2 out Rocky Colavito singles to left to score McAuliffe.  3-2 Det.  Mossi-win   fowler -L
